CAS-ology, "Shop" Challenge

This week at CAS-ology they have an interesting cue word.  Shop.  Hmmmm, you could do many things with this I think.  However, staying true to the season and my love of Christmas cards, I made a holiday card featuring a gift.  Now I recently won a draw for a prize on Jingle Belles and I got a nice little paper pad of Christmas papers and a stamp set (Hampton Art).  I decided that the stamp set had the perfect stamps for the idea I had in mind.

This card makes me giggle.  Now the sentiment was doctored a bit as it had an exclamation point instead of a question mark.  I just inked up the letters only and then hand drew the question mark.  I really need to get a question mark stamp.  Anyway, the present was stamped in red then coloured with my alcohol markers.  I made a card base using the red snowflake paper and layered my white panel on top.

I'm also linking this up to Addicted to Stamps and More's challenge which is "Holidays".

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit and have a lovely day!

Avery Elle "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hey there!  I'm popping in to share a card I made for Avery Elle's challenge this month.  It's an anything goes challenge this time.  I made a card using one of their free digi images (see HERE).  When I saw this digi image I have to say I saw something other than the obvious lantern image.  I saw it flipped upside down and it became some funky trees!  :-)

What do you think?  I've been wanting to make a card with my "trees" for a while and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity.  I used my spectrum noir markers to colour in my trees and cut them out so I could pop them out with some foam dots.  I also used some clear glitter to make them sparkle.  Wish it showed better in the picture.  The sentiment is part of the same free digi...mostly.  I separated the "celebrate" from the main image and added in the "the season".   The background was done by stamping my small circle (Technique Tuesday, Flurries set) with white StazOn and sponging blue brocade (SU!) in a ombré type look.  I added some snowy hills cut out by hand.  I am quite pleased with the results of this card.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great day!  For those celebrating US Thanksgiving, enjoy your turkey!

Create With 8

Well, CAS-ual Fridays has a very interesting challenge going right now.  You must create a card featuring 8 of something.  Maybe 8 embellishments or tags or you stamped something 8 times.  Fun, right?!

So, this was a card I made for my Dad for his birthday.  There is a time honored tradition in my family to give each other a hard time whenever possible.  LOL!  This was just another one of those times.  :-). Anyway, there are 8 "marbles" on my card.  I made these by using some glossy accents on wax paper.  Once they were dry I peeled them off and on the back side I used my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to add the swirls of colour like a real marble would have.  They were a lot of fun to make.  I stamped my jar (Dear Lizzy Neopolitan collection by American Crafts) and fussy cut it out.  I computer generated my words and cut them out.  I strategically placed my chevron washi tape first then my sentiments.  Added the jar on its side and then the marbles.  It's a funny card that I love.  I think I need to make more of these marbles.  They are so much fun to do.  :-)

Thanks for popping by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Winter Anniversary

So, every year some people choose to get married around Christmas time.  I have to say that while I would never have chosen that time of year for my wedding there is something magical about having your wedding then.  I've been to a wedding at Christmas time and it was beautiful.  Big lighted and decorated tree in the church.  Lovely decorations everywhere.  In any case, what makes it fun for a card maker that loves to make Christmas cards is that you can make an anniversary card with a winter or Christmas theme.  Hooray!  :-).  Well, this card is in honor of Addicted to CAS's first anniversary.  Isn't the first years gift supposed to be paper?  Well, that's rather appropriate, isn't it?  :-). So, their challenge code word is, well, anniversary!  Happy anniversary, ATC!

This card didn't turn out exactly the way I originally intended but I'm quite pleased with the results all the same.  First I stamped my swirly pattern (Hero Arts K5347 Misty Swirl Long.  An oldie but a good one) in white StazOn.  Then I sponged perfect plum ink (SU!) overtop.  This is one of my very favourite techniques.  The white StazOn resists the dye base ink.    I added a part of an old scrapbooking border embellishment that I trimmed to fit.  I added some rhinestones and pearls.  Then I stamped the sentiment (an old All Night Media stamp) in dove gray (StazOn).  That border embellishment was just the perfect colour wasn't it?  I'm going to link up as well to the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge.  This would fall under the "a few of my favourite things" category as I used the fav technique with the white StazOn stamping.  :-). Not sure if this counts as it's not technically a HA "holiday" stamp but figure it can't hurt to include it.  :-)

Anyway, I got some happy mail today!  My sweet friend and fellow blogger, Darnell (of  djkardkreations ) sent me a lovely card and a couple of pretty skeleton leaves.  If you haven't been to her blog before, you should.  She's a talented card maker as well as super nice and just down right hilarious!  Thanks so much for the happy mail, Darnell!

Well, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Holiday Stocking

Just a quick post so I can link up to two challenges.  CAS-ual Fridays and Curtain Call have teamed up for this weeks challenge.  There's an inspiration photo that could inspire just about anyone, I think.

Isn't that a lovely scene?  I instantly latched onto the stockings and some of the colours for my card.  I got to use some new stamps too!  Michaels had a great deal on their $1.50 stamps.  9 for $5.94.  That's $0.66 each!  Couldn't pass it up.  Got some great Christmas images that I'm sure will be showing up here soon.  :-). Anyway, here's my card...

The stocking and sentiment are the Michaels stamps.  I stamped the stocking in Aqua (Color Box) on kraft paper (this muted the colour somewhat which I wanted) and embossed in clear (Stampendous).  I used a white gel pen to whiten the snowflake and lines.  I fussy cut it out and added some glitter snow (Aleene's).  On a kraft panel I stamped the sentiment and embossed in white (Stampendous).  I layered the panel on some medium aqua paper then on a white card base.  I added the stocking with foam dots and then added a wire candy cane and candy embellishment to look like it was coming out of the stocking.  I am quite pleased with the results.  :-)

Hmmm, was that a quick post?  Not really.  Oh well.  LOL.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day (or evening, depending where you are)!

A Joyful Card

Well, it has been a while since I last posted.  I took a little trip with my son and husband this past week.  It was fun but glad to be home.  I have a card to share today that I'm going to link up to a few challenges.  First up is the Hero Arts Holiday challenge.  This cards falls under the category of " a few of my favourite things".  One of my fav techniques is featured in this card.  It's using embossing powders.  Next is Festive Friday and they're having a colour challenge this time and it's a great one.

Love that colour combo!  Addicted to Stamps and More's challenge is an "anything goes" one.  Also, going to link up to Christmas Cards All Year Round where the challenge is "winter wonderland" which you can have anything like snow or snowflakes etc.  So, here's my card...

So, I used a lovely snowflake stamp by Hero Arts here (F5793 Dotted Snowflake).  First I embossed the snowflake with my white and silver glitter embossing powder (winter wonderland by Stamp n Stuff) on an aqua panel (Bazill Basics, whirlpool).  I used the same powder on the chipboard letters.  I love doing this when the colour or pattern doesn't go with what I'm doing.  :-). I attached the letters to the aqua panel above and below the snowflake to form the word joy.  I matted this in red and attached to a white card base.  I then added a red bow.  Such a pretty colour combo, I may have to make more!

Well, that's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Jingle Take 2

Hello all!  Today I thought I'd share a variation of my Jingle card that I made a little while ago.  (See HERE).  I had originally intended to do something similar for the first card but ended up going a different way.  So, this time I included some colour and sparkle but it's still quite CAS.

What do you think?  I like my first card best but I like this one too.  It's hard to see but the red stripes are glittered.  This paper is by Recollections from their Holly Jolly paper pad.  All other supplies are the same as the first card.

Well, thanks for visiting and hope you have a great day!

Welcome Christmas

This is my second post today!  Such a rarity.  :-).  I'm going to share another Christmas card too.  Surprise, surprise.  I don't think you'll see any other kind for a while.  LOL.

Anyway, this card is for a few challenges.  Festive Friday (I <3 them), Christmas Card Challenges and Curtain Call.  FF has a element theme this time.  You need to include a wreath.  Here's their inspiration photo.  Curtain Call theme is "Welcome Home" and their inspiration photo is also down below.

The CCC's challenge is to include bow(s).  So, I did both! :-).  Look and see...

So, I've seen a few variations of this kind of card and really wanted to try my hand at one.  I made my door by cutting a white cardstock panel and sponging some soft suede (SU!) using some rectangle masks I made.  I then stamped my wreath using a portion of a branch stamp (Inkadinkado) in a light and dark green.  I added some red pearls and a red bow.  I matted this onto some brown wood grain paper (DCWV, Tradewinds paper pack) and then attached to white card base.  Using my Slice machine I cut my banner (Noel design card) and stamped the sentiment (portion of a welcome home stamp by American Crafts) in red.  Attached this with some foam dots.  Added a silver pearl for a door handle.  I am quite pleased with the results.

Well, that's it for me today.  Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!

Joy To All

Happy November 1st, everyone!  Gosh, how time sure flies.  It is 7 weeks until we go visiting my family and my husbands for Christmas and New Years.  Crazy!  And only 8 weeks, roughly, until Christmas itself!  Yikes!  :-)

Anyway, I have a card to share today that I made for the current challenge going on over at the Hero Arts Club Blog.  This falls into the category of "A Few Of My Favourite Things".  There are a couple of favourite techniques here.  One would be the embossing and the other is just simple straight forward stamping.

I really love this silhouette skyline stamp (H5470 International Skyline) by Hero Arts.  I also love taking a none holiday stamp and creating a holiday card with it.  It's a pretty simple card.  First I stamped the skyline in black, stamped the sentiment (HA CL460 from Joy To All set) in celadon (Color Box) then dry embossed the whole panel using the snowflake folder (Darice).  I added some bling and attached the panel to the aqua card base with foam dots.  I love the aqua colour here.  :-)

I'm also going to link this up to CAS-ual Fridays "embossing" challenge and Christmas Cards All Year Round's "winter wonderland"

Hope you all had a great Halloween yesterday.  Thanks for visiting!  :-)
